The clip, filmed in China, appears to show a man adding his rubbish to a pile.
But he accidentally stumbles and plunges sideways into the open jaws of the machine.
The clip shows the compressor gradually closing in on him until only his arm is visible.
Later a man, who appears to have witnessed the whole scene, strolls over to try and help, but it is too late.
