According to the NHTSA recall notice, 2013-2018 Ford Fusion models and 2013-2018 Lincoln MKZ models may have front brake hoses that could rupture and leak brake fluid.

"A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash," the recall notice says.

Potentially faulty hoses were introduced into Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ production in 2012 and were pulled in 2017.

Ford dealerships are replacing the front brake hoses on these vehicles free of charge. Letters notifying owners about the safety risk are expected to be mailed on April 17.

Owners who have questions can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The number for this recall is 23S12.
