Next up on my reviews of the LEGO Avatar: The Way of Water sets, we check out the Skimwing Adventure (75576). The set has 259 pieces and retails for $34.99. Body Armor Plate
Jake has on a green tactical vest with a cloth going down the legs. He has a crossbow as an accessory.
Tonowari is the leader of the Metkayina clan and has a lighter blue skin color than Jake. He has a brown harness with a pouch thing on the right side. Like Jake, the legs have have printing of a loincloth. His head is very detailed with the face printing. His accessory is a spear.
Like with all other Avatar sets, there are some colorful coral areas. One of them has a clear jumper piece for a minifigure to connect on to simulate it swimming. The other coral has a Technic pin to connect the skimwing on to.
The rest of the build is for the skimwing itself. It has a very slender body and the head sort of looks like a mosasaurus or an Ichthyosaur with the long snout. The whole upper head is printed and the mouth has a click hinge to keep it open.
The main part of the body has a spot for a minifigure to connect to and there are some hoses behind the head for the Tsaheylu connection. Like with other Avatar sets, you have to connect the hose to the hair a certain way or stuff will come off, whether it be the minifigure off the skimwing studs or the hair gets pulled off.
The side fins use some large printed plastic pieces secured using the ball pins.
The next section has some of the smaller plastic fins on the sides. The tail makes use of a wing and a rotor blade piece in sand blue which is a new color for them.
For the most part, the LEGO Avatar Skimwing Adventure (75576) is on par for what you get in these sets. The animals could be a little bigger but you have to factor in the small coral builds to the piece count and that limits it a little. The price point also reflects the plastic fins as well as the larger molded pieces like the head and the tail. I’m neutral on the set as the skimwing does look good compared to the on-screen counterpart but it does rely on the printed fins a lot for the details.
