Thomas Bjorn has launched an astonishing rant after claiming his driver was tampered with before a DP Tour event. Types Of Insomnia
Bjorn, a 15-time winner on the Tour, shot a 4-over 75 on round one at the Open de Espana in Madrid this week, scoring five bogeys and just one birdie. And in an explosive social media rant, the Danish legend suggested there had been a "lowlife" meddling with his clubs.
Taking to Twitter, Bjorn vented: "To the guy who changed the settings on my driver overnight in the bag store… May you wake up every morning for the rest of your life with bleeding haemorrhoids." The former Europe Ryder Cup captain confirmed he had changed the driver before the round in Madrid got underway as he became involved in a spat with a golf fan.
"I’m not saying it influenced my play. I played s*** and that wasn’t down to that. But to go in and change any players equipment is beyond low," he said.
"Do you think it’s ok to go in the locker room on PGA tour where players leave their clubs overnight and change the settings on the players clubs? We use a bag storage on our tour and have always done."
Bjorn has been a strident supporter of the DP Tour and spoke out against the new Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit, warning its players can bid farewell to their Ryder Cup careers.
Sergio Garcia in particular spoke out about his message from Bjorn, claiming none of the LIV Golf stars would be welcome in Team Europe.
Bjorn will retain his vice-captain status for the 2023 tournament under Luke Donald, alongside Edoardo Molinari.
