To be fair, it arrived, ready to gallop like a newborn foal born in the savannah. In just 5 days, it garnered 100 million users, making it the app with the most user sign-ups on launch.

Wow. Either we are incredibly bored or we are all incredibly bored.

It helped that the app was being launched by an O.G. in the social media game. But that might also be another reason it seems to be tethering on the brink.

Or winning it from him in that cage fight.

Zuckerberg is a genius. Most people agree with that sentiment. No one can discount his success with Facebook.

But in this information age, people get wary when there are whispers of circumspect data acquisition and data leakages.

We like to give our data away for free, evident by the fact that we can’t take a dump without announcing it online. But at least, we are giving it away on our own terms.

We live in a hyper-realized world. That’s why you hear words like ‘main character’ being used in day-to-day conversations. We want to cast people in archetypal roles.

We, the lowly ones, are the main characters in the story, cause the hero is always the underdog. And people like Zuckerberg, with immense financial success, are primed to be cast as villains.

So, from day one of Threads' launch, people were already digging out ‘receipts’ of past misgivings with Zuckerberg’s related ventures.

But that excuse does not hold water, except these people can swear they don't own an Instagram account or WhatsApp. Both of which are owned by the same person.

Elon is not free from being typecast as the villain either. He fits the bill, rich and successful. But that villain mold…
